Haven't been to the storefront yet, but I frequent their booth at the Ferry Building every Saturday! They usually will offer a sample of sorts, which is so fun. I adore their jicama kimchi & always try to keep a jar in the fridge. They do cool events at the storefront on Saturdays... definitely check them out!

I normally don't like kimchi because of the fishy taste, so I was so excited to find out Volcano Kimchi is vegan. I walked past when they were supposed to be closed but the owner was hanging out in the cute space and explained all their offerings and recommendations. I got the smokeshow and it's delicious! Low calorie, healthy probiotic good for gut and great for spicy lovers.

Amazed that I've never reviewed this business. I've been buying their offerings for years at the Saturday Ferry Farmer's Market. Starting with their basic kimchi, I've grown to enjoy their wider variety of vegetables in recent years. My favorite is the smokeshow (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=4wSbOqyH3Im2yYVyw17N9A&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), made with regular cabbage as opposed to the traditional Napa cabbage. They also offer cucumbers in a regular pickling juice as well as the traditional kimchi marinade. Recently, I tried the pickled mustard greens and pickles (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=a7_vGmgWZJ5epzP_JejvGA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); this was a nice change of pace. I will likely get this again but my lean is towards the spicier items. Big thanks to Lisa for explaining the various items that they carry. My friends and I appreciate having options and your non-traditional take on this Korean food classic.

So glad to see them selling pre-made food options. I remember them selling kimbap ages ago, but haven't seen it since. This new wave of take home treats is pretty tasty though. Kimchi Pancakes: These were light and full of flavor, when heated up and crisped on a pan at home. Their suggestion of a soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil and sesame seed dipping sauce worked very well and was easy to make at home. I liked how there was a bunch of kimchi in this and how the dough near the kimchi was a little gooey, when heated. Kimchi Fried Rice: It's pretty simple with just rice, kimchi, mushrooms and some other veggies. But it tastes so great! The instructions say you should heat it in a pan with some oil. I let it cook a bit extra to get a little crispy. Tasted brilliant. Flourless Tofu Ball w/ Gochujang: These were very hearty. They reminded me of something that might be served nearby at Delica, but Korean not Japanese. A subtle flavor though, so the gochujang is great to liven it up. Pairs especially nicely with something more carby from this place. Japchae: The only item I wasn't crazy about. Was pretty bland compared to everything else I tried here. There were some spicy pickled things on one side and a few daps of gochujang, but not enough to kick up the tastes of the cold noodles and raw veggies.

We Stopped by the Ferry Building Farmers Market last Saturday and ran across your stand. We're big fans of kimchi and decided to purchase the Kohlrabi. We always head to the Korean market for our kimchi. Now don't get me wrong, I love traditional Korean kimchi, but Volcano Kimchi has put a twist with its flavors. We'll be heading back to your stand for more incredible kimchi. We have to sample to other kimchi's.

Got to try out the jicama kimchi from their stand at the clement st farmers market and it was some of the best kimchi I've ever had. Fresh, flavorful, locally sourced and organic with probiotics - what's not to love?

I recently had the pleasure of trying Volcano kimchi (thanks to my neighbor for recommending them!) and love it so much I bought 5 jars! They use non-GMO, organic and locally sourced ingredients. I love everything she makes but my favorite is the classic napa cabbage kimchi and jicama kimchi. Super crunchy, healthy and has plenty of probiotics. According to my neighbor, kimchi is actually a good hangover cure - whether it be kimchi juice shot or just out of the jars. I am waiting with baited breath for her gochujang, which she says she is waiting for it to ferment. I use gochujang on my food like ketchup. They're at the Ferry Building's Farmer's Market on Saturdays - they're on the right hand side just as you're walking into the Farmer's Market.
